The Jackson Hole Airport is beginning a conceptual planning study for a new aviation safety facility. The study will be conducted October 2025 through April 2026 and is intended to evaluate all possible facility locations that meet FAA requirements in the safest manner possible.
The Airport provides Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) and other life safety functions that are directed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure the safety of the community and the traveling public. The location of the existing safety facilities presents safety concerns due to the lack of unimpeded, direct access to the runway. The Federal Aviation Administration regulates and often funds a large portion of those projects that ensure a safe, efficient, and well-functioning airport for the community and traveling public. The FAA funds are derived from users of the aviation system and are providing almost all of the planning study cost.
